Dear all
I plan to go to Australia in July and want to see Daintree Rainforest combined with Cape Tribulation National Park.
I have to questions a) What will the weather be in July - would you still recommend to go although it will be winter
b) How long would it be recommended to stay in each park? I currently plan 1-2 days each. Obviously one could stay longer. What would be a good compromise "efficiency" vs. being too "superficial (will be equipped with a car) and not being a bird watcher.
Any replies are very much appreciated. Thanks!!
Kindest regards

The weather in July is usually very good. This is the begining of the dry season and the prefered time of the year for the southern Australians to come north and visit the tropics. July, August, September and October are the coolest of the "dry" months and are the "high" months of the tourist season and are considered by many as the best months to visit.
How long to stay? There are many things to do and see. Many people make the mistake of not not staying long enough.
Have a look at:
http://www.daintreecoast.com/
and
http://www.daintreevillage.asn.au/
to get an idea of where to stay and what there is to do.
Tours of the Daintree Rainforest, Daintree River and the seeing the Great Barrier Reef are important things not to miss.
I would think a minimum stay of 2 or 3 days.
It is also a good idea to book ahead as this is a busy month. |

Thanks a lot, this is very helpfull.
I am getting a little confused regarding
(a) "Daintree National Park"
(b) "Cape Tribulation National Park" CTNP
While one site quotes "The Cape Tribulation National Park borders the Daintree National Park on its northern side" and I realize the town/village of "Cape Tribulation" seems to be in the Northern area of "Daintree National Park" I get very little on "Cape Tribulation National Park" itself while googeling for Daintree National Park produces a lot of information. Is there no CTNP in the sense that this is overlapping with Daintree National Park? Or is CTNP a non-public area?
Thanks for any clarification
Kind regards

Yes, it is confusing.
Once up on a time, there were two national parks: the one south of the Daintree River was the "Daintree National Park" and the one north of the river was "Cape Tribulation National Park".
Then about 8 years ago, these two were combined and renamed to be called the "Greater Daintree National Park".
This really confused everyone (especially the locals). So a few years ago they again renamed it to the "Daintree National Park".
The Cape Tribulation National Park of old is now called:
the "Cape Tribulation Section" of the "Daintree National Park".
There is no town of "Cape Tribulation". The closest thing to a town north of the river is a slightly concentrated area of settlement known locally as "Cow Bay". Other than that, places to stay at and things to do are fairly uniformly scattered from the Daintree River to Cape Tribulation (an actual geographical place).
"Daintree Village" is the town south of the river. |
