I'm taking a tour of the rainforest at the end of the month. I wanted to know what types of insects I would encounter and how best to protect myself while I'm there, i.e. insect repellants, etc.
Also, since I'm not the most outdoor-sy person, what would be the best way to dress? short? long pants? obviously sneakers.
Thanks

You shouldn't be bothered to any degree at this time of year.
You will find that the mosquitos are not around in any great numbers during the dry season (unless it rains).
However, if you are still concerned, long pants, long sleeved shirts and a good insect repellant that contains DEET will insure that you will have very few problems. Also remember to wear light colors as mosquitos are attracted to darker clothes.
The most common clothing worn is shorts and and a light shirt, but be sure and bring a warm top as the nights can be cool (especially if you take a night tour on the river or in the rainforest). |
