It is is important in that it is part of the diverse biota of the tropical rainforest.
It would play some part in the dispersal of the seeds of the King Palm
and the Kuranda Satin Ash whose fruit are part of its diet.
It is the smallest, and in some respects the most primative of the macropods.
It is also unusual in that its diurnal, foraging in the early morning and late afternoon.
