Its a "day" bird.
What will eat them - snakes, raptors and maybe goannas.
They protect themselves by mostly traveling in groups which helps maintain a constant lookout for treats with rapid, erratic flight with sudden changes in direction.
They are part of the ancient temperate rainforest fauna known as Tumbuan fauna.
There are several dangers from humans:
Changes to their habitat by fire and over-grazing.
Diminished availabilty of hollow trees for breeding sites.
The frequent destruction of nesting trees by bird smugglers by axe and chainsaws in the coarse of their obtaining the parrots from the wild to sell. |
