Want to spend a couple of weeks in the far north. We are a family of 2 adults (in our 40s) and an 8 yr old. And we're on a budget. Has anybody got any tips for the best way to spend our time, and where to stay. My husband wd like to hire a camper van but I think it would be cheaper to hire a car and stay in youth hostels although we're worried about being the oldest backpackers in town!! I would definitely like to visit the Daintree/cape trib area and possibly Cooktown.
